  • We went all-in redesigning the Aventor Bore Gage's indicator, and we think you'll agree we hit this one out of the park. Afterall, what good is accuracy when you can't read the darn thing? Plus, just look at it -- is this a beautiful tool or what?
  • Translating sleek contours and edgy angles onto the constantly morphing face while maintaining optimal functionality and ergonomics wasn't easy, but we did it anyway. Dozens of prototypes led to the refining of the shape, tweaking the button placement, and creating an incredibly legible display.
  • The brass bushing within the stem assists in free spindle movement, and of course the Aventor Bore Gage offers a wide range of sizes to meet virtually any and all applications. Do you want to be able to transfer data from the gauge into Excel and other text file formats? Well feel free because it's got an SPC output port that allows you to do just that. The gage's advanced encoder design and DPS (Definitive Position Sensor) eliminates the need to repeatedly perform a zero setting operation at the power-on stage once the origin point is set. This also prevents over-speed travel errors, which is a very good thing, because any kind of error is a very bad thing. Very.
  • And as if all that weren't enough.....Our MIN amp; CAL key allows easy tracking of minimum bore diameter, and our PRESET key can be used to set master value for absolute measurement. A 330 degree rotation allows the display to be easily read from many angles, which really comes in handy in many situations.
  • While the Aventor Bore Gage does not have a GPS to help you our when you're lost, (yet), it does feature a settable origin point when using in a master ring gage. Once set, it can be retained to display the spindle's absolute true cordance from the origin point for the entire length of the battery life cycle, using a 3V CR2032 Lithium Battery to keep the action going...and going, and going....
  • Along with its ultra-precise anvils, its 9 ceramic contact ball tips are durable, non-marring, and measure absolute bore diameter to an accuracy of +/-0.00059" with a repeatability of 0.00011". What's more, each bore gage set is matched, ensuring the indicator and the bore gauges are in sync and calibrated to each other at all times.   • Relative Measurement Mode: Drop the bore gage into a master ring gage and use the MIN key to find the minimum bore value. After a minimum value is recorded and stored, bore gage can be retrieved out of the master ring gage, press and hold the CAL key for 3 seconds to set the stored minimum value as the reference point and the digital indicator would display 0.0000". Now the bore gage can be used as comparative measurement gage to check the variance of a workpiece's bore against the master value.
  • Absolute Measurement Mode: Before dropping the bore gage into a master ring gage, use the Preset key to set the indicator to be the master ring gage's bore diameter. Next drop the bore gage into the master ring gage and use MIN key to find the minimum value. After a minimum value is recorded and stored, bore gage can be retrieved out of the master ring gage, press and hold the CAL key for 3 seconds to set the stored minimum value as the ring master's bore diameter and the digital indicator would display the preset value. Now the bore gage can be used to measure the absolute bore diameter of a workpiece.
  • Origin point can be set and retained to display the spindle's absolute true coordinate from the origin point for the entire battery life cycle. Once the the origin point is set, there are no needs to repeatedly perform a zero setting operation at power-on which allows quick and easy ready-to-use operation when taking multiple point measurement.

Arctic sea ice has likely reached its minimum extent for the year, at 4.72 million square kilometers (1.82 million square miles) on September 16, 2021, according to scientists at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) at the University of Colorado Boulder. The 2021 minimum is the twelfth lowest in the nearly 43-year satellite record. The last 15 years are the lowest 15 sea ice extents in the satellite record.

Each September, the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) at the University of Colorado Boulder informs the public of the annual Arctic sea ice minimum extent, an indicator of how climate change is affecting the Arctic, the fastest-warming region of the globe.

Scientists at Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, the Arizona Geological Survey at the University of Arizona, and the National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado Boulder have been awarded almost $2 million from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop a virtual reality teaching tool called Polar Explorer.

The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) announced this week their participation in the 50x30 Coalition, a group of governments and cryosphere and emissions research institutions endorsing the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 50 percent by 2030. The Coalition’s founding members endorse the scientific consensus that failure to reach this milestone will result in temperature “overshoot,” in which emissions remain too high to hold Earth within 1.5 degrees Celsius of pre-industrial levels, leading to major and irreversible damages to the environment. Damage may be especially harmful for highly temperature-sensitive frozen components of the Earth system, with impacts ranging from sea level rise to infrastructure damage to food insecurity.
